Start the updater, go to Settings -> Variants, select "Chat Window" from the dropdown field and double click on "Tabs on bottom" in the list below. The background of that line turns bright green if you selected it successfully. If not, double click again until it does (sometimes it is a bit tricky, I found that you cannot click too fast). Now click ok and you are done.
