have you tried the automatic configuration: link?

Apart from that it's probably happening because you are using Windows notepad for editing, but it is not working correctly. Try using another editor such as Notepad++, which I recommend in the FAQ.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
