The only other options: you moved them off screen or set their opacity to 0. Solution: load one of the default uisettings files or hit F10 to find them and change the opacity. But since you're not a noob I'm sure you tried that already.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
