yes, you only need to change the name of the UI folder in the eq2.ini. However, you need to exit and restart EQ2 for this. In game you can only use /loadui, but this will cause issues with the UI, and therefore is not recommended.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
