Anarissa, you can change the Start Button and the Sound/Video controls windows to just about any layout. Just play around with resizing the windows, you'll see how it works. I introduced the flexible layout with 2.7+, so you'll also have to do this once after you first update from 2.6 or lower to 2.7+ if you don't use the 1024/1280 preset uisettings, since the button layout will be a bit messed up then.
