OK, did some playing around and this is what I found.
1) all group members autoselect when clicking the spaces where the curable effects show up except for myself. When I click on a cure for myself, my target does not change but the cure spell is cast.
2)The cure spells actually cast if I click the buttons for either myself or the first group member. All others only select that charcter.
