You missed his point
You can't equip more then 1 item every 5 seconds when you're in combat. That means your shield equip line wouldn't work at all. There's no way to say "Do command A, wait 5 seconds, then do command B"
So you'd never be able to auto-equip the shield AND sword at the same time.
