As for losing my glowy trail when I move or minimize the map...I have the Zboard gaming keyboard with the limited edition EQ2 keyset so when I close/open my journal, map, inventory, etc it is with a push of a button.
I am presuming that the keyboard is set to use the (letters) default keymap for the game.

I think you are hitting the wrong button, or you got the wrong minimap plugin. Both of the following two links have Talyn's Plugin.

If you use the FetishMaps, the mini-map button is the 3rd from the left, NOT the first one.
