Unless they coded the new addition such that not having them crashes your client, the only "issue" you'll have untill EQ2MAP is update will be not seeing group member pointers or the waypoints button.
I know the EQ2MAP team is aware of the changes and have already discussed how to deal with them. Its quite possible an update will be added inside 24 hrs.
