The ever changing journal

I got a journal mod at http://eq2.fluffy.dk that is out of this world... no one comes close to its features and functions so I'm going to use it and I highly recommend EVERYONE uses it.

My request is that the mod authors embrace this Journal mod and work it into their mods.

When I update ThorUI it gets overwritten every time and yet I want the update features to the basic journal, I just don't want my quest tracker overwritten. Unfortunately, it has the same filename eq2ui_journals_ quest.xml. So, is there anyway to work this?

To my knowledge every set that comes with an auto-updater has a function to exclude specific files from being updated. Just exclude the journal and you're all set.

And I wasn't aware of their mod, that's a nice idea to integrate it with their database. For users of the questlist that's certainly great. I'll have to consider whether the performance hit of adding a browser to the quest journal which they must have done is worth it for the general userbase, but on first sight I'd say it is not.

The nice thing about the mod is that it tells you what quests are available in the zone to begin with. So often I think I've cleared a zone and yet I haven't.

Yes I know, but that's why I referred to the general userbase, which does not care much about clearing all quests in a zone, and rather uses the journal to keep track of existing quests.

Interesting. So it checks against a database to show what quests you've done/haven't done/started ?

Not having looked at the code but knowin the questlist website I'm pretty sure that it's just a browser window that opens your personal quest list on eq2.fluffy.dk and via a button they added you can automate update that list (by pulling questname, etc. from the currently selected quest and adding it as parameters to the URL). You will still have to manually push that button for each quest though (or at least select the quest, maybe they automated the button pressing but I don't think so since that would create much server load).

It's a cool concept, that's for sure. However, I personally dislike using the in-game browser. Cool feature to have, but I'm usually just in windowed mode anyhow. I bet it makes it a bit faster for finding quests you've missed though.
