Failed to download database error

I just updated the program to ver. 1.0.14 from 1.0.6 and I am now getting an error:

Checking Database
Failed to download Database
Error downloading File:
extrafile_list.xml
The operation has timed out
No Updated Files
No New Files
Update Done

It was working fine in ver. 1.0.6 but now I am getting this error when I try and run the update. I am running XP sp2.

Something is preventing the new program from accessing the internet. Did you have to configure your firewall to allow 1.0.6 access to the internet? If so then you may need to do the same for 1.0.14.

I did not have to do anything to it, but I checked it anyway and my firewall settings are set to allow it access.

Hopefully jnils can help you then, I'm out of ideas.

You can un-install that version and re-download 1.0.6 from the archive. Just go here and scroll down to the archive area to download an older version. However I'm sure jnils would like to get to the bottom of this problem.

There was something goofy going on with my firewall that I didn't see when I looked at the settings. I disabled it and the updater worked. Thanks for the heads up.

Im glad you solve it :)

I do not have any firewall, i even don't run the xp-internal one BUT had same failure with updating to ver .14

Solution was kinda strange to me, but at least it works
i went to systemsettings -> Windows-Firewall

although, as already said, i don't have it active, i manually added the Eq2mapupdater to the programlist...and *miracle miracle* .. now it works just fine :)

just for the ones it may help :)
