World Map - Kunark Missing

The world map inside of EQ2Maps is still the one from Faydwer, not the one that includes Kunark itself on it. Is this in the pipe to be fixed soon-ish? Minor I know, but rather odd whenever I open it up.

And one (unrelated) question: Is it possible to make an "amalgamated" map of the multi-part zones and stick it in the (usually missing) city tab? Both Qeynos and Freeport have the extra city-view tab when in any of their sub-zones. Is a similar thing possible for any multi-part zones (so you could see all of Kylong in the center tab for instance), or is there back-end coding which makes this not possible?

Thanks.

I was thinking of making a plugin to add an additional tab for kunark zones that were essentially the maps combined, with sokolar routes shown. And perhaps do it for other multi-piece zones as well.

Changing the world map to the new RoK version is easy. Changing the zone connection overlay will take some work. If you can tell me every zone connection that is missing from the current EoF zone connection diagram I could put it together sooner. My pre-ordered copy of RoK is still coming in the mail.

I know these are missing.

carpet from Darklight Woods to Sinking Sands
Neriak to Steppes and Nektulos docks (via bell or teleporter?)
boat from Commonlands docks to Kylong Plains
boat from Antonica docks to Kylong Plains
carpet from Sinking Sands to Gorowyn
(griffon or carpet or boat?) from Butcherblock to Gorowyn

Anything else missing?

As for making the missing City tab show up for larger areas, that tab is controlled by the game client. It might be possible to force it to show up and switch to custom maps for certain zones but it would require some fancy scripting.

It's a griffon from Butcherblock to Timorous Deep just outside the entrance to Gorowyn, and that griffon goes both ways (i.e. back to Butcherblock as well).

Also, I believe the carpet from SS to Timorous Deep only works for evil-aligned, just like SS to Butcherblock only works for good-aligned.

Because maps are now able to be zoomed in (I don't know if only in the primary tab), this may be practical without it being microscopic.

But if it's only zoomable in the "current" window, then this type of thing would be too small to be good IMO.

At some point we are going to have to drop the zone connection image. As it is there are so many zone connections that it is going to clutter this image up till it is no longer usefull.

I think it's very useful, we should keep it. But we can make it as with POIs and allow the user to toggle specific types of them (by clicking on the legend, for example, or by making something as the popup for POIs). That means we'd have to separate the overlay into several layers.

I think it's very usefull too to have the connection layer.. but maybe it's possible to split it into multiple layers.. let's say for each continent one layer with an option to show all.. since we can zoom in/out now at the map (also on the world map?) it should go well even with all connections showed... Or maybe add hotspots to the connection points and show the connections to other places on roll-over.. but sure I would miss the connection layer.. I'm still new to Norrath and didn't see all areas (where is the carpet station in BM eg? :p).

I went ahead and manually updated my world map.

It doesn't include anything fancy, just the current world map with city and continent labels in the right spots.

The paths are-
<your UI>\eq2map\zones_world.xml
<your UI>\images\maps\exp04_world_map.dds

This is as much as I need since I don't use the zone connections. I have them all memorized...

Anyone who wants to tackle that have fun!

Is there a way to convince EQ2MAP's patcher to not over-write the custom files?

If you are running the latest version of the patcher you can browse to the directory the eq2map files are at and make them read only and the patcher will skip over them.

Any update? Kunark is still MIA.

I have updated the files recently, they are waiting for Dolby to make them available via the updater (I don't know when that will be).

Not Exactly sure this is possible, It seems that while EQ2I map makers use the same scale when making maps, the EQ2 Devs don't, each of the section maps may or may not be at a different scale from adjourning maps (the biggest example I can find of this is in Kylong Plains, This Highton are is at a larger scale than the TG area, at least to my eyes.)
