a noob to UI's question

I found two individual interface files in the download section I wanted to use for the hotkey and target window. When I extracted them it was just the files (eq2ui_mainhud_hotkey and eq2ui_mainhud_target). I read the stick note on how to: install an interface so I created a folder under /UI named mods and placed the two files in it and then created a eq2.ini file in notepad with the lines

cl_ui_skinname mods
cl_ui_subdir UI/

I then saved it to the /Everquest II directory

I then loaded up EQ2 and it was still my old setting. I was wondering what am I doing wrong and if anyone had some suggestions on how I can get these two files to individual interfaces to work while keeping all the rest of original stuff from changing.

Thanks in advance

are you sure the file isn't eq2.ini.txt ?

Yea I made sure it wasnt eq2.ini.txt. It was showing up as a configuration file after I saved it

you should have....

..\sony\Everquest II\eq2.ini <----- the one you made
..\sony\everquest II\UI\Mods <----- directory your mod files go

if this doesnt work.... Download one of the complete UI's with the eq2.ini built for you and the correct folder names....

Those filenames should end with .xml - are you sure they do? ie, eq2ui_mainhud_hotkey.xml and eq2ui_mainhud_target.xml

Depending on what your decompression program did, you may have lost the filename extension..
