POI Settings reset to default (On)

Seems like any time I zone from one area to another (Including spots where you don't really "zone", just change maps, like from GFay to Kelethin), all the POI settings on my map turn back on. I usually only like to run with the standard ones on, and will turn on others as I need them. Brand new install using the auto-updater, on brand new installs of EQ2 on a Vista and XP machine both. I can't really find anywhere to even set sttings on this sortof thing, so if anyone has any ideas, that'd rock. :)

That setting is not saved, due to the way the UI system works not due to a fault of EQ2MAP.

As far as it not keeping the setting from one map to the other once the map as been open for the first time I don't know. I'll look over the current code to see why it isn't keeping it.

Off the top of my head, the current setup presses the "Resset" button every time the map changes to maintain proper state throughout the plugin system.

If you know a bit about SOE scipting, you should be able to edit
UI/YourUI/eq2map/skinnable_WindowElements.xml
to automaticly uncheck the POI options you want disabled by default.

After looking at the current code, each POI group has a set state they are in when a map is loaded. and the POI controller menu is set accordingly. So in order to make one set to off that is normaly on, you will have to do as Zonx instructed in the post above.

This was asked a long time ago and I changed my map to act that way.

You can follow the directions given by Deathbane27 there or just use the file that I have here.

When you open the map the custom POIs will default to being off. If you want to turn them all on quickly, click on the World tab and click back on the Zone tab.

(Oh, if you use Fetish or another UI that has a specially designed skinnable_WindowElements.xml you'll have to edit it by hand. This file is the normal EQ2MAP file with just the edits required.)

I used that method before RoK, and it worked like a champ. :)

Seems like something's happened that that no longer works, though. :( Any new ideas?

Follow the directions in Deathbane27's post and then make the file "read-only" so the auto-updater won't overwrite it. The auto-updater is forcing certain files to download for two weeks because of the major changes in GU 40.

That did the trick, thanks very much! :)
