Error after downloading the auto updater
Quote:
Any clue as to what would cause this? |
And you've gone through the FAQ post and used the search function and all the solutions to that error haven't helped, right?
|
Well, I've read all through this forum and found one other user having the same issue as I. I've read the FAQ that the creator of the mod made and saw where the 'known solution' was a firewall fix. Nothing else of substance or use was found. I've read and looked for 2 hours now. The answer clearly isn't blatantly obvious. I'm a smart person, and can figure most issues like this on my own. However, after trying to troubleshoot myself, read what the creator wrote in the FAQ and check out the posts of other users sharing my problem, I can safely say I exhausted my ability to look in to things and expected a bit more help than what you offered. Checking back on your previous posts though, it makes more sense.

I've uninstalled the updater and will do without. Thank you for the much needed help.

There are three reasons this would happen.

So many people come and post here with their errors without doing a lick of search hehe. I'm very glad to hear that you did search. I asked that because (as I just said) most people don't search and seem to think that folks here are some kind of paid tech support instead of volunteers. Your post just happened to sound like most of that kind -- the "I did this and got this error, what do I do now?). As for help, I can offer nothing more than what Landiin said -- since it can't connect to the server the problem lies somewhere in either a firewall or a proxy issue. If you can access the eq2maps portion of this website then the patcher should be OK to access it as well. |
