EQ2 Classic Interface
Hello Everyone,
My first post here at EQ2interface, and it's basically a question regarding the classic, Pre-DoF, Interface. Now, in my opinion, this interface was much more cleaner, crisper and more easier to use in comparison to the chunky, and hideously purple Post-DoF UI. I believe back in the day, I mixed and mashed the Classic UI with Thor's UI. To be honest, ThorUI looks really really bad with the DoF UI interfering with it. If anyone can remember, before DoF, even the Launchpad UI was different. Nonetheless, does anyone know if there is a setting which can enable the use of the Classic UI? Or has it become obsolete. I'd like to be able to use it again one day :) Regards, Josephs |
No, there isn't any easy way to get the UI to look like the previous versions. Some of the graphics files may still be there but it looks like some aren't. If you really wanted to you might be able to do a fresh install from older CDs or DVDs to get the older DDS files and then possibly create custom styles to emulate the older appearance. It would probably be a lot of work though.

Perhaps a good idea for some EQ2 Developers? Obviously the graphics will be there.. as well as the LU18 XML Pieces. As you said, maybe we could just replace the Image DDS Files and it could just work! :P Right now I'm using FetishNightfall 9.1, with the FetishClassic 8.5 DDS Files. It's Ok.. ;) |
Replacing the DDS files is not the problem, however a number of those were changed over time, new ones added, etc. - you'd have to adapt them all to the old style.

Well actually I have that pieces. The version of this UI is GU15. Do you interested in this stuff? |

So here it is. And something I should tell you first, this UI set comes from Chinese version EQ2, so errm, some image files is translated into Chinese (like zoning scene, login scene and etc.), but I thought this won't affect your UI development :). |
