Compass question

I think maybe I put this in the wrong forum before... I'll try again here:

I've downloaded quite a few compass pieces over the past months, and one thing they all seem to have in common is that they're off by varying amounts. What I mean is, with the compass reading due north, when hovering the mouse over them, I've yet to find one that will read zero degrees. Some are out by only a few (3-5) degrees, but others are out by as much as 20 (one in particular that I like the look of is out by nearly 100:(). Does anyone know why this is? And is it fixable, or just a quirk of the UI?

Thanks in advance,
-B.

Sorry Bekkr I thought I had answered you questing on you last post.

It's because there is no way we have to calibrate the image (the compass wheel) to be exact when we mod it. I also doubt that the image will ever be spot on with the actual heading data, because of the digital to analog conversion code. And no it isn't centered on N, S, E or W. If I recall it starting position is some where in between on of the 4 or it use to be.

Any way that's why I believe the two are never in sync.

Righto then, I'll just learn to live with it, and find one I like that's off by the smallest amount.

Thanks for the reply and explanation. :)

Well with some time on your hands you could probably calibrate it in game until the scroll page location is dead on.

Time I've got (I play an MMO, after all :))

What I don't have is any idea as to what to even change to calibrate. I'd be quite happy to do it, and upload the results, if I could get a general idea of what to do. :D
