I´m so lost with the UI/Addons.. Please help =)

Hi,

I have been trying to install some addons and i realy cant understand how to get em work.

There is limited or non installation info in most of the addons and because i havent play EQ newer before im totaly lost. There is how to install FAQ, but it doesnt make any sense because there is just talk about full UI installation or so.

So can some one please help me.

So i have tried to get these addons to work.

Penta Style Maintained Stand alone (MirageKnight edit)

Category: Target RingsOthesus Target of Eight Stones and so on.

What i do not quite understand, is that is it even possible use just addons, or do i need to always download full UI.

Please help the stupid, and yes i have been trying to search forums without any luck.

K

Editing.

I tried once more with the FAQ how to install and didnt work. This is what i have done.

All the files are now in C:\Games\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\XXXUI folder and also under C:\Games\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\XXXUI\images folder just in case. I have created EQ2.ini file and yes it is ini not txt-file. I have tried like this

cl_ui_skinname XXXsui
cl_ui_subdir UI/

And also

cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname XXXui

When i choose Loadui in game, there is just defaultUI to choose. I also tried loadui xxxUI and the result was so called first start UI.

You don't need to install a full UI. You can add any pieces individually.

The eq2.ini file should say

cl_ui_skinname XXXUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

if your custom UI is in the folder XXXUI.

If this file is set up correctly you don't need to use the /loadui command. I don't recommend using /loadui since it used to be completely bugged. Now it mostly works except for a couple small things.

Other than that it looks like you're doing everything right.

Do you use the eq2map mod? Your custom files would go into the same folder if you do. You may want to try installing the auto-updating version since it will create the eq2.ini file and custom UI folder for you.

Hi,

Actually it is now working kind of, i do have those target rings but still cant get the Penta Style Maintained Stand alone (MirageKnight edit) working.. Is there some command/switch etc... But i will continue working with this and maybe il get it up and runnig. :)

Ok, if you have a custom target ring your custom UI is working and your eq2.ini file is set up fine.

For the Penta Style Maintained Stand alone (MirageKnight edit) you just need to put the xml file into your custom UI folder and put the dds file into the images folder. That should do it.

I have now dowloaded several addons and almost all work without any problems.

I got eq2map, himays inventory etc. but still Penta Style Maintained Stand alone (MirageKnight edit) and Othesus Maintained Spells window i cant get work

The xml files are now under EQ2 main folder, UI main folder UI/images folder etc but still nothing. Im still wondering do i need to active it/them somehow in the game or what´s the problem in here?

It should be pretty simple. In general the xml files for UI mods should just be in your custom folder, in your case, XXXUI. Obviously you can't use the Penta style Maintained and my maintained spells windows at the same time since they are the same window.

Hi,

Yep i know that it is not possible to use those addons at the same time, but it seems that somehow either of those doesn´t work.. Well i have to take a closer look once more, probably the problem is between the bench and the keyboard.

Got it finaly. I created a new UI folder and moved all files there. After that all the addons stared to work, hard to say why, but that was the case anyway :nana:
