Offpeak Players and SPAM flooding

Hi,
I am one of SOE's biggest pains in the Butt.
Constantly whining about spammers both pvt tell and mail...

Trouble is being offpeak like all players in the zone where we Australians are, means the maroons hammer us incessantly.

But I digress.

I was looking at a SIMPLE way to just nail them myself to save my aggravation and use a macro with /w all 1 1 for initial lookies then open the community window and have to mess with the drop down defaults and stuff to make it look for the same thing, then search and select the player, click on send tell and backspace and delete "tell" and replace with ignore.

Is there a mod that will retain the settings in the community window so I don't have to redo it EVERY time I log on or change characters?
And what would be even NICER, a Button in the search area with IGNORE on it too!

I use the latest Fetish UI and have been taking a deco at the file but it doesn't mean a lot to me although I DID find the area's I need to change but the text doesn't exist in the XML at all. e.g. "this zone." "all zones." not sure if the interface pulls this text out with a hook from EQ2 or whether it is calling a library function somewhere in the fetish folders.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Ta Muchly.

Seems like the Community search step is superfluous...when I get a spam /tell, I just hit "R" to reply, replace "/tell" with "/report," then add a short note after the character name to the effect of "plat seller" or some such. Takes me about 3 seconds, tops. :)

Just like to beat'em to the punch

Um dang I said it all in the title~!

I like to scan for them FIRST and ignore them in advance.

Tonight BB has had an average of 35 different names (3 people as far as I can tell) and an average of 2-3 tells apiece to make up for lost time with the fabulous FILTER.

Even ANON and AFK are no longer safe LOL.

Would rather not see the PINK text in the first place ;)

I know what you mean, but those characters are just throw-aways...I imagine their average life span is maybe 15 minutes, if even that long.

It just seems like an awful lot of effort to go through to ignore a character that you'll never hear from again after that first /tell. :o

(Ok, sometimes you'll get two /tells from the same character, usually within minutes of each other, but I can count on one hand the number of times that's happened to me personally.)

i dont know why soe dont just add an option to the persona window to ignore tells/mail from L1 to L10 players. unless on your friends list

That way it could be turned off if you make a new toon, and want to group with others, not perfect solution, but better imoa

and i thought soe already stopped L1s from sending mail, unless on a full payed account, not buddy key accounts etc... guess not(

Because blocking tells by level wouldn't help. The spammers sell power-levelling services too, remember. How long do you think it takes them to run 5 toons through the Isle and get them to 11? Then spam away they will, safe from your filter. And meanwhile the filter, while not stopping appreciable amounts of spam, would cause a lot of headaches from players who've created a new toon but can't talk to any of their guildies to get an invite into the guild. Yeah it's easy enough to camp over, but you know how the complainers are and SOE has to look at CS time dealing with 'em. With minimal or no return, the cost just isn't worth it.

And SOE does prevent trial and buddy-key accounts from sending tells off the Isle, at least until they go to full-paid status. The spammers just invest in a $15 game-time card and get untraceable full-paid accounts to spam with.

Myself, I just unchecked the Spam box in the chat channel selection and I don't even get the notification text anymore. Seems to solve 99% of the problems with spammers. We'll see how long it takes for them to react, and whether they can do anything effective to get around the filter.

By default, you will be given the system message when spam is directed toward you. Should you wish to not receive the system message, you can modify your Chat Options as shown below and opt out of receiving the system message.
