Is this possible? (Health bars)
Call me crazy but I've always missed the way health bars worked in EQ. In all other games, HP is updated immediately. If you get a 500 hp heal, your HP bar leaps up by 500 HP. If you recall though, in EQ the bar didn't move instantaneously but rather moved back and forth. A 500 HP heals caused the bar to "slide" upwards by 500 HP. I haven't found any mods that do this unless I missed them. Anyone know if it's even possible?

Hmm call me crazy but my EQ2 heath bar works the same way I recall my EQ health bar working. I get hit for 500; it goes down 500, I get healed for 500; it goes up 500.
If you are talking about actually seeing the bar grow or shrink and not instantly being set to the correct value. Then that isn't possible to mod in EQ2 as I think that and I don't recall it doing it was do to the way they code gaining/receiving heath in EQ or computer read/write latency. |
Didn't think it would be. But yeah, EQ's bars behaved differently. As a cleric I stared at the things endlessly. A CH on a tank would slide the bar to the right. The heal was instant but the display might take a full second to reach full.

The health bars slide as do the power nars I noticed that it starts when the spell goes off and takes the duration of the spell to reach full

as a cleric in eq1 casting complete heal. the reason you'd see the bars fluctuate like you describe is because of the following:
Player cleric 1 casts complete heal, 10 second cast. Player tank is being beaten on by the mob constantly. Player shamman/druid spot heals the tank while the cheal is cast. every 6 seconds the game updates the health bar info in packets, so you see it go up then down then the next 4 seconds the cheal hits and 2 seconds later you see the result but ALSO mob is still hitting the tank thus it doesn't move as you expect it to.
