problem installing profit UI
Im having some trouble getting the profit UI to show up for me. I downloaded it and followed all the installation instructions, i made the bobsui folder (with my name instead of bob), i unzipped the file inside it, i added the eq2.ini file, i made sure it was in fact a .ini file and not a .txt file. im not sure what im doing wrong. I play on Runnyeye, which is an EU server, but i didn't see any of those LP_REGION_xx_xx folders. i even ran a search for LP_REGION, but nothing came up. just to see if the ui was actually there, but just not showing up, i typed /loadui but it itsnt showing up, all im getting is the default ui. i tried on characters on both the EU and US servers, it doesnt work on either. I downloaded the files here:
C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\bobsui\ProfitUI 3.1.1 (replaced my name with bob) anyone know what i did wrong? |
Just remove the bobs ui ref, that is an example, if you making your own ui
so the directory should look like C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\ProfitUI i think the LP_region is only used in the japan versions etc, but i may be wrong. the EU ones dont Hope it helps Wolf |
LP_REGION is only use if you install EQ2 using another language then what the install is for. So if you installed the English version and later on you wanted to play with Japanese language you would wind up with LP_REGION_JP_JP basically another copy EverQuest2 in that directory but for the Japanese language.
Granted I could be wrong, but from the PM's I've got from people that I have inquired about the LP_REGION_XX_XX that is how I've come to understand how it works. |

C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\ProfitUI 3.1.1 it still doesnt show up, even when i type /loadui, default is still my only option the problem might be with the eq2.ini, it looks like this atm, is this correct?: cl_ui_skinname bobsui cl_ui_subdir UI/ any help would be appreciated :) |
the folders should be
C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\ui\ProfitUI no numbers after it. you are extracting the files and not just putting the zip into the ui folder i hope) use the eq2.ini from the zip, which will look like this cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI cl_ui_subdir UI/ Wolf |

its now in the ProfitUI folder as you suggested, and the eq2.ini is exactly as you have it written now. its still not showing up even after i type /loadui. and yes, i did extract it inside the ProfitUI folder, that is where the numbers came from originally. I have a feeling im missing something that will seem painfully obvious when someone points out what it is :p |
ok lets start again )
1. delete or move any server_xxxxx_eq2_uisettings.ini files 2. Extract all the contents of ProfitUI_3.1.1.zip into your main everquest2 directory, ensuring you extract with paths, so the files go into the right folders 3. When in game you should see the ui, but all messed up. type /load_uisettings 4. Select the resolution that you use from the list. Also please be aware that there may be issues with this ui atm. but i'm sure gm9 will update it as soon as he can. ) Wolf |

thanks for all your help wolfling, i appreciate it very much :) hopefully ill have better luck gettin this to work tomorrow (midnight here in Europe) |
I think your problem is the extraction process. I don't know what you're using to unzip the file but it's important to do it in the right place and the right way.
The ProfitUI 3.1.1.zip file should be in the Everquest II folder. Then when you unzip it, you need to choose the option "unzip here" or "Extract Here". That way it doesn't create an extra "ProfitUI 3.1.1" folder that you don't need. After that you should get Quote:

Can't think of anything else than was already posted. Also make sure to take a look at my Installation Instructions, I tend to believe that they are rather complete.
There are some issues, but if at all possible I'll fix them tonight and put out a new release in time for GU34. |
it finally worked guys, thanks alot everyone for your help :D
