Help with getting EQ2 to work

I use cable internet at home and it is always turned on. Soon as launchpad pops up it tells me that its unable to connect to the network at this time and i should try back later. Now i have used my port forawarding and put all the ports that need to be in and my firewall lets EQ go through (ZoneAlarm). I think i modded my program to skip the legal page (I accept etc) and bypass the update screen and password. Can anyone help me please? I am out of ideas. If it helps my Diablo 2 doesnt connect to Battle.net either with the same problem of not being able to connect to the internet.

I am out of ideas and need some help.

I'm curious...why would you mod your launchpad to skip the update process? That's an integral part of making sure EQ2 runs properly. The update isn't just for files used in the game, but it's also a self-updater for the launchpad.

(You don't have to mod your launchpad to skip that stuff, y'know...just use "EverQuest2.exe" instead of "EQ2.exe." The longer filename has you login just before entering character select instead of going through the launchpad and update process. It's risky to use it all the time, but it's there.)

Have you ever been able to get EQ2 to run on your system, or is this the first time you're trying to run EQ2, and you've already started applying mods?

If you're having problems connecting with other programs as well, it's likely not the programs but your system configuration. Without knowing the intricacies of the firewalls and other system security programs you're running (I'm just not familiar with port forwarding or ZoneAlarm), I can't offer any advice in that area.

I have no idea what you mean when you say you modified the Launchpad but I don't think it's a good idea. Use the normal Launchpad.

If you don't have it anymore download it here:

(Sigh) no go on the zip file I downloaded. I have run EQ2 on this machine before and it didnt have any problems...I put the game down for like 6 months cause of family issues and me and my brother were downloading mods and changing things. Even when I run launchpad it wont let me even get to that screen anymore. It just says "Network Error" and its getting really old...think i should uninstall everything Sony and Mod and start over??

I personally think you should uninstall, reinstall, and make sure EQ2 is patched and running properly before you mod anything.

It's never a good idea to start jiggling stuff around right off the bat, even if it did work fine 6 months ago. :) The files have changed since then, and modding before patching is definitely not A Good Idea.

Which screen are you talking about? Your best best is to post in the EQ2 Forums under Technical Help and Questions.
