No you didn't. If you did, everything would be working for you ;)

Ok, in all seriousness......

1. What does the path to your custom UI look like?
2. Do you have your eq2.ini file (found in the root EQ2 directory) properly pointing to the custom UI directory?

I put the eq2.ini in the root folder and did all the stuff that your supposed to with the document. cl_ui_skinname bobsui
cl_ui_subdir UI/ and the name of my folder IS bobsui. It is inside the ui folder.

For simplicity sake you may wish to try downloading something like ProfitUI (which you can extract to the main Everquest directory and it will create all files and subdirectories for you) or maybe ThorUI or ExtremeUI (both of which I believe have actual gui installers that do everything for you). In this way you can be assured of having all files in the right place and everything configured correctly.

If you have it like you say, then there are two things that could be causing it not to load the ui.

1. your eq2.ini file is actually eq2.ini.txt
2. you are not using the default language for your EQ2 install.

To check for one; open up window explorer and browse to your EverQuest II directory and under folder options check show know file extensions. Then look at eq2.ini and if it is eq2.ini.txt rename it to eq2.ini.

To check for two; open up window explorer and browse to your EverQuest II directory and look for a director name LP_REGION_XX_XX (XX_XX being country and language). If this directory exists then copy the eq2.ini file to that directory. You will also have to make sure your bobsui directory is in the ui directory of the LP_REGION_XX_XX directory.

It could be a combination of the two also.

Another thing you can do is copy eq2ui_skinfino.xml from the default directory to bobsui directory. Edit this file and change the the properties to something other than whats there but don't change the name property. Once that is done load up the game and once in the game type /laudui in the chat window. You should see you UI there, if it isn't you've put it in the wrong place.

I also had a similar issue once I came back to EQ2. I had to copy the contents of the entire Default folder back into my mod folder and re-apply all of my mods. Sometime they change the UI in updates and you have to wait for someone to make some kind of work around but you need the orginal change from Sony first.

Unless they have changed things, you should never need to (or should, for that matter) copy the default UI files into a custom UI directory. If the game needs a certain UII file that it cannot find in the designated custom directory, it goes looking in the default UI folder.

Not knowing the status of your game install, might I suggest an extreme solution?

Uninstall the game and delete any remaining folders left behind. This will start you off cleanly.

Reinstall the game.

The Profit Reborn zip file is set up to extract to the proper folders. The only thing you need to do is point it to your EverQuest II game folder when you extract it. The file was created with recursive paths, so everything will drop neatly into place. You will also need to download the Profit Reborn Subclass Backdrops and extract them.

After the files are extracted, you should have a ProfitUI folder under your Everquest II\UI folder. You should also find the eq2.ini file in the main EverQuest II folder along with several ProfitUI resolution pre-sets that you should use for your monitors resolution.
