Updater Problem of Windows Vista Retail

Here is the details (Some parts may be "Localised" language of Vista), basically says there has been an error while creating WebProxy.

Do you have .NET 1.1 installed properly? And 2.0?

Weird working on vista just fine for me (business copy at work). With vista you shouldnt need to install anything extra as .NET is built right in.

Well, this is Vista Ultimate copy, straight from Microsoft (being press member has privilages), which has been gone gold however it is not in English. I think it should not matter at all language differences. Basically, non-English versions of Vista might have this problem. I tried to run the program as Administrator or still same error.

Alright, that would be nice. My account IS "Administrator" account. However, with new Vista security system, I have to still use "run as Administrator", now that I realise "Run as Administrator" works. It is also interesting that every single user within Administrators group should still "RUN AS ADMIN" to fix that issue.

can you connect to the internet fine with Internet Explorer. The updater uses the same proxy settings that IE has.

aye, I didnt have any proxy setting and no other browser than IE7. It might be related to new security stuff of Vista has, like confirming everything before etc.

While i certainly want to get to the bottom of this unfortunately i really don't have much time. Between school and work i just don't have the free time i used to have before. I have tested the updater on my computer (Vista RC2 Beta) but did not get any error. While i certainly wish i could track the problem down i just don't really have time to devote to this project anymore :( I'm sorry and i really wish i had something better to give you on this.

Can you translate a bit of the error message tahts not in english... perhaps the last 3 lines or so?

If it says something about a currency separator, you shuold be able to clear it by acting like you're going to reset the currency separator to , instead of .

Only non-English part is last line:

Means:

Location: WindowsApplication7.Form1.DownloadExtras()' at section 'system.net/defaultProxy' there happened an error while creating WebProxy

Turn off the User Account Controls in the control panel if you are allowed.
Even as an Administrator, there is a "Deny = Everyone" setting security setting. Alternately you can remove that permit and "include all inheritable objects"

Easier for me to disable UAC but im not in a secure business environment.
