File comparasin question

When EoF came out I had a problem where the new achievement point window would just show as a black box any time I did not have the default UI's loaded. Somewhere here I found a reply to another person's post offering that they could compare two default files with two custom UI files line by line to see what was different or missing one from the other...

This was exactly what I needed... I found the missing line for the achievement window and it's worked ever since. I've got the same problem with a frostfell window that I accidentally opened last night and now I cannot find my notes or the poster's helpful comment to remember which files to compare.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks for your help. I've searched for an hour trying to find the original post but have not had any luck.

Here is a list of changes from GU30: Link

If I understand your problem correctly you will need to change the eq2_mainhud.xml file to include the following line:

<include>eq2ui_mainhud_contest.xml</include>

Don't you mean eq2ui_mainhud.xml...and do I just stick this line any ol' place?

I know nothing about xml

Yes, that was the file that I meant. You can pretty much put it anywhere but you'll notice that the other includes are alphabetized so you might want to put it right after the Compass line.

so I open it up in notepad or what ever, paste that line in, and save it?

Thank you for the helpful line info to fix that specific problem, but I was hoping someone would post again what the EQ2 main directory files are that I can look at myself for these such changes and which ones they correspond to in the custom folder so that next time I can find the missing line myself and not need to post again for help.

Can anyone please tell me what these files are that I'm looking for?

that's simple enough...

eq2ui.xml (which is the big daddy -- it gets loaded automatically and dictates what else gets loaded) and all files that are named within it (the majority of which should be similar files full of <include> statements).
