maybe you can help with this one? I have some ability that requires me to sneak..what is sneaking?? is this an action or is it just the fact of being behind a creature?

Sneak is used to pass creatures stealthely w/o getting attacked(in most cases, aggroed)...it is required for some abilities to sneak and be behind or flanking your target.

Hope that helps

Yes, all forms of stealth qualify as sneaking. Stealth/sneak in EQ2 termanology referse to any scout class combat art that makes your character transparent.

Invisibility (also makes you transparent) provided to you by another character or activatable item does not count as stealth/sneak. To use an ability that requires you to be "sneaking" or "stealthed" you must be using one of your own class stealth abilities.

Note: Some creatures see through stealth. This generally doesn't prevent you from using a stealth ability to enable a backstab ability. A common tactic for soloing these targets is to stun them, flip around behind, stealth, then backstab before the stun wears off.
