Installing eq2maps

Im having some problems installing eq2maps.

I see the steps to install a custom interface. What I don't understand is when you download eq2maps it does an installation process. Do I still need to copy eq2maps and setup the ini file.

I ran the installer and when I go into the game It doesn't show up. I have used custome interfaces before and they just stopped working lately.

Do I need to do anything to clear to old setting so that this will work?

Please help me out or point me to where I can get some info.

Thanks

The problem may be that your eq2.ini isn't pointing at the right directory.

There needs to be a line like this
Code:

cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP
in your eq2.ini file. If you previously had some mods installed, and *then* you installed EQ2Maps, it might have changed your eq2.ini to point to EQ2MAP, and prevented all your previously installed mods.

If you want both EQ2Maps and other mods to work together, make sure the eq2.ini points to EQ2MAP, then copy all the other mods from whatever subdirectory of UI that you had them in, into the EQ2MAP directory.

However, if any of those mods included eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml, then EQ2Maps is going to step on that file, and those mods won't work right.

When I install the EQ2Map -updater should I see the EQ2maps create something in the UI folder. If so it hasn't. Is there any other program I need to download and install or any idea where it put these maps?

Delete other interfaces

If I can't get this to work is there a way to delete the other customer interfaces I have and start over?

If you use a custom UI (Fetish, ThorUI, Profit, etc), you should point the EQ2Maps patcher to that custom UI folder. Doing that should put all the required map files into the correct directory for you to be able to use the UI and eq2maps together.

You shouldn't need to modify your eq2.ini file to reflect a line like sstair mentioned. That would only be necessary if you were using the default UI.

EQ2Maps doesn't touch your UI folder during install. When you run it, that's when it starts putting stuff in your eq2.ini file and your UI directory.
