Outdated Mods
Has the topic been raised yet to consider making an Outdated Mods section for any mod that can be confirmed to not work with the most recent GU?
For instance, a newcomer to EQ2 might come here looking for Bag mods and attempt to install each one in the Bag section before realizing that none of them will work. That's a lot of mods in one section that simple will not work any longer. They could be placed in an Outdated Mod section in order to better organize the mods that actually do work. Any thoughts? |
Most Ui mods state in the description what update they are compatible with. ie: LU26 compatible, or EoF / LU29. The user needs to view th edescription to be sure they are getting the correct file/update. Also, the files are dated, that is a good indication of how "current" the mod may be.

About having an Outdated Mods section, how would it work? I would not expect a site admin to have to go through and test every mod for compatability, and if the modder no longer does any coding, how would those mods get moved. Also, if a modder came back after his mod was moved, would they be able to update it and get it moved back to the correct section again? |
The WoWInterface (please don't judge me) has an Outdated section. Once a user reports a mod as not working due to a game update it is moved to that section. If someone updates the mod then it is moved back.
Also, some mods do work even if they aren't up-to-date, as has been mentioned. These mods are left in the appropriate section. Having said all that I'll use the bag and hotbar section as examples again. It's pretty safe to assume that nearly every single mod in theses section prior to GU29 will not work since the IconBank was established. These sections have tons of useless mods taking up space and giving the impression that there's a possibility that they might work. I personally tested nearly every single mod in both of these sections after GU29 borked mine and just got increasing frustrated. It's kind of a bummer that these non-working mods would still be listed in a place that someone might go to looking for something that they might expect to work. Just some thoughts. |
I'd also like to add that the Maintained & Effects section has all outdated mods that don't work properly anymore as well. Except for Mother's latest one.
At least this seems to be true for any that change the Maintained window as they all seem to change the tooltip to simply show "Maintained Spells" instead of the actual tooltip. If it makes any bit of difference I would gladly volunteer to help test mods in order to clean up the site if someone decided that this might be the way to proceed. |
You are correct we need an outdated category here at eq2interface. I'll make one now.
Moved thread to correct forum. |
Ok I've created the category, if you know for sure an interface that isnt working please PM me and I'll move it there. I will be going threw them my self and moving any ones that are obvious.

Sorry that I put this in the wrong forum. I apparently had collapsed the Site Help section and forgot that it even existed. Thank you for moving this.
Thank you also for considering my suggestion. It's always nice to know that someone's listing to you. :) I'll send you a PM later today or tomorrow after I see what's taken care of first. Thanks again. |

I have an old mod that I do not plan on updating. as the original reason for the mod has since been fixed in the default UI. |
