Text2Speech for EQ2 let your Toons Talk!

There was a program for EQ, called Ever-Bot
It allowed most game "chat" to be channeled through your Speakers via Uncle Bill's speech engine.

Sample of EQ2log:

(1160618171)[Wed Oct 11 21:56:11 2006] \aPC 1758624 Kesrith:Kesrith\/a says to the group,"ok"
(1160618243)[Wed Oct 11 21:57:23 2006] \aPC -1 Kesrith:Kesrith\/a says to the guild,"hey abroad"
(1160618258)[Wed Oct 11 21:57:38 2006] \aPC -1 Abroad:Abroad\/a says to the guild,"hello all"

The Author web site was http://everbot.cjb.net/

But seems to be shut down, it was like 2 years ago.

It was Super for those of us that Hate Reading while we fight.
Yes, I run Teamspeak 2 and that works great for Guild raids, but EverTalk was only on Myside of EQ. All chat with MoB or NPC was directed to speech.
I include the Installation below, as it shows the inteface use. Yes, it runs of your EQ2 log text, cleans it to just the text of Group/Guild/NPC

(--- Ever-Bot Installation ---)

Download MSagent.exe
This is Microsoft Agent voice software.
Run it and click yes.

Download tv_enua.exe
This is TruVoice voice software.
Run it and click yes.

Download TVicHW32.exe
This installs the required DLL files.
Run it and click yes.

Download spchcpl.exe
This is the Speech Control Panel.
Run it and click yes.

Download ever_bot.exe
This is Ever-Bot itself. Run it.
Type in a folder to install it to and click unzip.
Leave the checkbox checked that says "When done unzipping open: everscut.exe"
It will make a shortcut in your StartMenu\Programs area.

You may want to move the shortcut to a different subfolder of your choice; or leave it where it is.

Ever-Bot is almost ready for use.

Run Ever-Bot.
On the form named EverRead select the log file for the character you are going to play as.
If one doesn't exist it means you'll have to enter EverQuest, turn logging on, then exit EverQuest.
Either change eqclient.ini so logging is always on or turn it on once you enter EQ.

Run EQ and listen to people talk!

There are several in-game commands you can use.
They're done in the form of /note commands.

In-game EverTalk Commands.
On the EverRead form, the help button displays a messagebox that tells you the basic in-game commands.

In-Game EverTalk Commands NOT Mentioned by the Help Button:
You can change these by editing everread.ini, located in your Ever-Bot folder.
WARNING! These commands are for advanced users only. Use at your own risk.
(Commands Entered With /note, Commands Are Case Sensitive)

This sounds pretty freakin cool. Does it actually work with EQ2?

EDIT:
Ah, just noticed that you put this in the request forum. Yeah, this would be a fun addition alright.

I wish it did, but our friends at SOE changed the format of the log file, and the program quit working. :nana: and the author was having a time issue, and quit updating.

I am hoping that a Programing Wizard will re-invent the program. I wrote SOE a letter before I installed my copy when I was playing EQ, their reply was it was not a problem, no volation.

That's good to know. If there is anyone out there that is capable of looking into this I would be very interested as well. I even have UI implementation ideas already :D !

EDIT:
Of course, being as there is speach in EQ2, this would be best used only for PC chat and not mob/npc speach.

Think about closing the Chat window!

Just think about the extra screen area if you had voice out on Tells, Groups, and Guild chats.

I will Paypal $50 for a copy of a working version.
