What I wonder if it can be done
 

i was wondering if for the EQ2 map there could be a drop down menu instead of all the dots all over the palce . ya drop it down and pick what ya looking for and it makes a dot at that loc ?

This is already in place ;):p

The drop-down menu is in the upper left corner of the map window (the map itself, not the framework of the window).

It doesn't stand out like a normal drop-down icon (a big, down-pointed arrow), it's just a regular looking square button.

I think what they mean is the ability to hide all PoIs, and then search among them and only display the one(s) that match their search.

Sadly, that's not possible with the scripting engine SOE give us.
