Map not showing at all, on fresh install.
Hello,
I just installed EQ2Map and it's not working. I created a folder named 'myui' (for simplicity sake) in ...>Sony>Everquest II>UI. Then I extracted the content of the EQ2Map zip file into that folder. I then created a 'eq2.ini' file in ...>Sony>Everquest II. In the file I simply put.. cl_ui_skinname myui cl_ui_subdir UI/ And saved it as eq2.ini (not eq2.ini.txt) and encoded it at UTF8. After it not working, I decided to try the updater and see if it worked. I successfully installed the .NET Framework. Then I ran the updater and it worked fine. It saw that my eq2map folder was the 'myui' folder. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but from my perspective I installed it correctly. P.S. I have read over the FAQ but most of the items are about error this, error that. I get no errors, it just doesn't work. |
You could give us a hint to what may have caused your problem if you stated what exactly did not work - did you have no map window at all, was EQ2MAP partially there, or was there some other malfunction?
But at least it works fine with the updater now ;) Greetings, Robert |

Use the eq2ui file below. I have changed the file to read the myui folder you specified. If you need to edit it use notepad and just resave it. You should have used notepad to make the file the first time. No need to use anything else or any other coding. Make sure there is an eq2map folder and an images/icons/ folder with the file icon_map3.dds in it. You can always reinstall it and rerun the updater too but I think your problem is with the ini file. Make sure there is an eq2ui.mainhud.xml file as well and an eq2ui.mainhud.map.xml file too. The eq2ui.mainhud.xml file tells Eq2 to include the map xml. The default xml should load it but maybe its not. You could always just copy the file from the default ui folder into your myui folder just to be safe.

Sorry for not being clear.
When I hit M, the normal EQ Map comes up. It has the world and current zone tabs and a waypoint button in the bottom left corner. I saw no change, so that's what I mean by not working. About having the correct icons and images subfolders, I extracted the ZIP folder into ...>Sony>Everquest II>UI>myui, so the folder structure is correct. Inside ...>Sony>Everquest II>UI>myui I have: eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml eq2map (folder containg XML Files) images (folder containing icons and maps folders) EDIT: I extracted the ZIP file you provided and looked at the eq2.ini file. I don't have 'cl_movie_enabled 0' in my eq2.ini file, but that's because it wasn't in the instructions. Other than that line, what you put in the ini file is the exact copy of what I have in my eq2.ini. |
Map is invisible
After installing and following all the directions, my map opens but is invisible. I can use mouse and change the windows settings, but can not see the map. I tried the zip file on this thread (the added line) and it still is not working.. Any suggestions?

I deleted all the files and went the auto-updater route. All seems to be working now.

You're probably using a language other than the default one. So, change the 2nd lign of the EQ2.ini to :
cl_ui_subdir UI/LP_REGION_EN_US where LP_REGION_EN_US is the directory where is saved your settings. Worked for me. (default for me is french, and i'm logging in as US) Kongfu |
