Anchor Tooltip?
 

I dunno, maybe I'm missing it but I've searched through EQ2's Options and I can't seem to find it:

Is there a way to anchor the tooltip window (notable the tooltips you'll get for spells on your hotbar) somewhere else?

Reason: I find the information on those spell tooltips to be extremely useful, but feel it's incredibly annoying that the tooltip itself pops-up and covers up the middle of the screen (where my toon and all the action is) as I prefer to have the hotbars under the feet of my toon (again; close to the center of the screen where all the action is).

I'd be happy as a clam if you could anchor your Tooltips up in the corner or something. Any UI's out there that do something like that? Thanks in advance!

So, has anybody devised a way to anchor the tooltips wherever you want, so the damn things aren't always poppin' up covering up quickbars and whatever else? Nothing more infuriating than hovering my mouse over a button, only to have some damn tooltip cover up half the damn quickbar.

Sorry, I don't think so.

In case you haven't tried there are a lot of things in the spell tooltips you can turn off though. I always turn off the spell icon ,description text and other things. I do like to see the HO icon, the power cost, and the spell effects, but the tooltip is pretty small still.

The only really big tooltip for me is the Master Strike one, since that has a huge list of effects but I don't mouse over it for very long.

Not sure why you would need to see the other buttons while hovering over a specific one, but you can either increase tooltip background transparency or increase the hotbar tooltip delay in options (Alt-O).

Otherwise you can also edit the tooltip page and set a minimum height to the window, causing it to appear high above your hotbars (if you have them at the bottom). You will have to set background transparency to 0 in the options and add a custom background (if you need it).

I know me, and many others I know would really, really appreciate a simple mod to remove the tooltips from the 'hotkeys' -- Mine, due to the location of my hotbuttons, cause the tooltip descriptions to cover up my Chat box..

Talk about annoying.. sheesh. I have the delay on max, but that isn't long enough.

I don't want to kill tooltips entirely, because there is alot of use for tooltip information on other things.. I just don't need to know what my spell I've been using for 60 levels does every 15seconds. My mouse invariably hovers over my action hotbuttons more than any other area.. and If I don't 'consciously' move it away in time I'll be typing and bam, its covered up. Argg, so I have to move the mouse, and then backspace what I mistyped usually. ;)

I'm going to try to mess with the transparency, but not too sure what I can do..

Also I found one 'tooltip' ui xml file, and it only has a max-width value of 400. Doesn't seem too helpful.

I'm sure one of you UI guru's can come up with something on this. It doesn't seem like a particularly difficult thing to accomplish. But maybe it is just impossible, not sure.

Welp, here it is almost 3 years later (check the date on my original post :) ) and I'm once again revisiting thread after returning to EQ2 once again. That's dedication!

So, has Sony allowed this to be done with their UI yet?

Recap: Allow you to simply anchor your Tooltip box (for your Hotbar) somewhere else on the screen, other than the infuriatingly idiotic spot it's at by default (anchored to the Hotbar itself)?

Reason: I want to be able to see the Tooltip info. I don't wanna just get rid of the Tooltip info. In fact, I think it's flippin' cool as hell that the options that do exist in EQ2's setup allow you to tweak just how much, or how little, the Tooltip shows you. I just do NOT want it poppin' up on the Hotbar itself. That stupid friggin' thing (the Tooltip) is covering up important information (in how I like my UI arranged). I just want the Tooltip to like, popup in the lower right-hand corner of the screen or something. Just not right ON the damn Hotbar.

Any help or information is greaty appreciated.
