hmm...lemme elaborate a bit more...can you show me the path for the EQ2 directory? i dont even see the original folder for this...and mostly, im not sure where to make this new folder.. :(
|
normal install is C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II
|
hmm, i have been looking there but i have come to the conclusion that i dont know how to make a text file. I used to install UI's with EQ1 all the time, but this has got me stumped. I did make a new folder but i couldnt type in it, lol im so confused.
|
i THINK i did it, just have to wait for my server to come up now, thanks for the help Insomniac. :)
|
Nope, not working, i have no idea what im doing wrong..the path im going is... C:/program files>Sony>EQ2>UI>(my ui folder)
When i get in game it isnt working...i tried the /loadui option and the hotbar came up smaller, BUT my player box (the box with my name, power, and HP's) gets messed up..instead of it saying "Zemilek" it says "longestnameposs" not to mention my HP bar goes red and is halfway filled up. Also the background for the hotbar box is still the regular size while the actual hotkeys are 3/4's the size, any ideas as to whats goin on? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :) |
Ok here's what you need, full overview lol.
Step #1 Read ALL this again, especially this 3rd post about naming and saving. If you just not sure how to quickly make a new file, right-click anywhere in empty space (desktop or when viewing contents of a folder), highlight New ►, then left-click "Text Document". Rename it proper, open it with notepad and insert the proper text from the link above. Step #2 Copy/Install/Move all interface .xml or other files to your folder within this directory: C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI So if you name your UI folder Iroxxorz, all interface files must be in C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\U\Iroxxorz Step #3 C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II This is where your file named "eq2.ini" should be and is the file that loads the UI for you. If your file is showing up as eq2.ini.txt rever to step 1 :) |
I actually got it to work, and re-read everything carefully, but when i log in, the hotbars are the normal size, then i have to type /loadui (my folder name) and press enter, a smaller hotbar pops up, but some windows on my screen are messed up, but if i camp to char select and log back in, its exactly the way i want it. Is there a way to save the UI how i want it instead of having to camp in and out to get it right and not have to type in /loadui (blah blah blah) and do all of the other stuff? :(
My text document IS labeled eq2.ini and the path is as follows: C:/program files>sony>everquest2 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance... |
this is what you need.
a folder named C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\Iroxxorz a file named C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\eq2.ini (which you say is done)Inside eq2.ini DO NOT try to use /loadui as it is broken and usually loads the interfaces without applying your information to them or just doesnt load half the damn windows. ________ redheaded Webcams |
I got all that stuff, its perfectly right... :(
doing the /loadui -- is the ONLY way i can get them to work. Not to mention it dont save them as i had them set the last time i logged off. |
Hm, strange problem. Check that the name of the file is really "eq2.ini" and not "eq2.ini.txt" (this was already suggested). Make sure your not hiding file extensions when you do this.
To show file extensions, in the Windows explorer got to Tools -> Folder Options -> View and make sure "Hide known file extensions" (or something like that) is NOT selected. That's all i can think of right now. I haven't tried /loadui myself as it's got some problems and the ini-file method should work fine. |
That did it! It was the hidden file extensions option. I cant explain my gratitude to you folks for helping me with this problem. All i can say is THANK YOU!
Thanks again Insomniac, Euda, and tonyis3l33t! :D :) |
