How to remove/change size of black bars

Can someone give me some guidance on how to change/eliminate the black bars that are at the top and bottom of the screen in the default setting?

If you go into your games option menu (ALT+O) and click on "Display" tab, you will see the 'Widescreen Letterbox' option... Just expand it to Max and save it and the widescreen effect will be gone.

Question...

is there a way to adjust just one of them? i like the bottom size when i adjust but the top one is just too big?

To be honest, I don't think so. The slide bar adjust both of them equally... I couldn't find anything in the folders where you can adjust them equally. But I'm not completely familar with XML.

Nope, tried it before, hardcoded. i originally thought it would be in eq2ui_mainhud_letterboxframe.xml. but the file only deals with the letterbox...frame. :D
