Ad-Aware found a problem with Updater

When I ran Ad-Aware today, one of the "spy-ware" items it found was the following...

C:\Windows\prefetch\EQ2MAP_UPDATER.exe-IF632228.pf

Is this part of the program or is this something bad that has attached itself to my updater?

Please let me know

I just ran a full adaware scan with the 24-Jan-06 reference file and it found nothing other than a few tracking cookies.

So i would say it is your PC rather than the application. if you are worried just delete the file from the prefetch folder. it wont stop the eq2map UI working.

The prefetch folder is just windows XP's way of trying to be helpful and speed up the loading of applications. /shrug

It's probably just a mis-scan.

Sometimes files can be totally random, or something completely safe, and still manage to catch a heuristic test or such.

EQ2MAP_UPDATER.exe-IF632228.pf is not one of the eq2map patcher files. So if you have a file named EQ2MAP_UPDATER.exe-IF632228.pf you should remove it.

I double checked the EQ2Map zipfile located on our server as with every report and found no spyware or virii.

Of course it didn't come with the download, prefetch files are created by Windows. Deleting it will just have Windows re-generate it.
