Did i miss something?

I have installed EQ2Maps and .net framework. Works fine up to updating his maps data, then start EQ2. At that point everything looks fine to me but in game i still have the normal EQ2 map, not the one i am supposed to have with EQ2Maps. Have i miss something?

Location, Location, Location

Where did you put the EQ2Maps directory? It needs to be in your custom UI directory or Everquest2 can't find the maps.

It's in my EQ2/UI folder.

Do you have an eq2.ini file in you main EverQuestII directory? If so does it look something like;

cl_ui_skinname eq2map
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Yep, i have the eq2.ini file and it's exactly the same as you type.

Ok here are a series of simple question and most you have probable already did but I must ask to know where we are.

1. Being you said something about .NET I assume you ran the automap updater?
2. When running the automap updater what is listed in each list box?
3. What files are in the directory UI/eq2map?
4. Is UI/eq2map/eq2mp full of icon_*.ini files?

juetro 01-16-2006 11:12 PM

Ok, here's the answers:

1- .NET Framework 1.1 is installed. The automap updater ran well.

2- The first time i have started it, i had a list of zones listed in the left box, which is the list of updated zone and a small list in the right box if i remember.

3- In my UI/EQ2MAP folder, i have 2 more folder and a file named eq2ui_mainhud_map. The 2 folders are eq2map and images.

4- In my UI/eq2map/eq2map, i have a bunch of icons. Their type is Document XML. I'm not sure of they count as .ini

Thanks for your help!!

Make sure eq2.ini does not have .txt on the end of it - notepad likes to add that if you're not careful.

Also, even if it says eq2.ini instead of eq2.ini.txt, make sure it's got a yellow cog on the icon, like desktop.ini shown in this picture.

If the icon looks like a regular text icon, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options. Click on the View tab, and UNcheck "Hide file extensions for known file types". This will show the .txt if it's named incorrectly, then you can rename it and remove the .txt

If that doesn't work... are you running a localized version? UK servers, French/German language, etc?

My eq2.ini icon and file extansion is ok.

Yes, i play on Storms, the French server.

Deathbane27 01-17-2006 11:07 AM

Okay, that's probably it then.

Within the EQ2 folder, there should be a subfolder named... uh... LP_REGION_FR? Or something like that. The EQ2MAP autoupdater needs to point to that subfolder instead of the base EQ2 folder.

juetro 01-17-2006 12:26 PM

I have uninstall EQ2Map and reinstall. When i started it the first time, it asked me if my everquest2.exe is in my everquest folder D:\EQ2. I clicked no and select the everquest2.exe in my LP_REGION_FR_FR folder. The autoupdater ran and now it work fine in game.

Thank you very much to everyone who help me resolve this, this is really appreciate =)
