Orange dots
I am not sure if this has been asked, but I went to test to see Update 19a and I seen the orange dots on the maps. This would be EXTREMELY helpful to see on EQ2map. Any chance we will see the orange dots?

You mean the orange dots that were added for quest givers in LU18? They are in Eq2map and work fine for me and many others I know...
Try deleteing your Icon_map3.dds in the \images\icons folder and re-run the patcher program. If your running the manual version I may need to update that version so if you downloaded the manual install version please let me know. Check the similar threads listed below this post too for solutions. |
Thank you. I will see if it works.

Wow, all of the old marks such as paw prints and green people have been replaced with dots I see. Is there a key for all of them, because I have only noticed the orange dots representing quest NPCs when very near the NPC. Otherwise the orange dots represent some animal or something or another.

I dont play a class that can track but I'm guessing the orange dots also show what you are tracking maybe? /shrug.
Those are the default eq2map icons, the paw prints and such was a custom icon file never default to eq2map. |

Well, all of the pawprints, etc. have been replaced with dots, but I cannot seem to find out which color represents what. As far as quests go, the orange quest dot only show up when I am very close to the NPC. Other orange dots show other things. Again, it seems to me that the different colored dots are just random.
And no, it isn't tracking. I'm a shaman. :) |

The large solid orange dots = quest giver that is waiting for you. (added by SOE dynamicly) The large open orange dots = new quest givers. (added by SOE dynamicly) (This is what SOE colored it, I think maybe eq2map needs to re-color them so they stand out or change the npc color). current eq2map dot colors: Loc = blue NPC = green Named = Red Mob = Orange Quest = Cyan Zone = goofy yellow zone icon Now you say the larger orange dots only show when your close to the quest giver, well the client will only show those dots when the SOE server sends that information to the client. Normally that information wont be sent to the client until you are close or something happends to force a data refresh to the client. This is something eq2map can not control. |
Thank you for clearin this up! :D
