Problem with EQ2UI.xml

Hi all!

I Recently got EQ2+Expansion and i am amazed of the game. now i discovered the ability to mod the interface. And got me the UIBuilder intro with pictures and
tryed to open eq2ui.xml (i copyed the XML stuff in a new own folder without spaces in the name).

This File could not be opened, check ui.log for more information

sooo.. i looked into it, some errors about opening images and so on... but. what am i supposed to do now? i havn't changed anything yet.

Help would be appriciated.

Suggestions for initial setup:

Extract UIBuilder to (EQ2Folder)/UI

Create a new folder in /UI named "Dev" (to work on files in)

So the folders in /UI should now be
-BuildFont
-Default
-Dev
-fonts
-xmlDiff

Copy eq2ui.xml from the Default folder to the Dev folder

Open UIBuilder, open the Dev folder, open eq2ui.xml

If that doesn't work, attach the log file here so we can take a looksie.

This was happening to me the other day. I basically just re-extracted UIBuilder from the zip file and everything worked ok. It must have been corrupted somehow because I couldn't open anything with it. Now it works fine.

edit: Tryed to make all the needed subdirs and to copy the files as far as possible. still... =(

Hmm...

Delete eq2ui.xml from the Default folder, and delete the UIBuilder program and zip, then re-run the patcher, re-extract UIBuilder, and re-copy the freshly-downloaded eq2ui.xml

Oh, but before you do that, what version of Windows is your computer running? The UIBuilder apparently only runs under XP.

i will do these steps. My OS is Windows XP SP2

Took these steps. still doesnt work.
The editor can open eq2ui.xml files from finished mods. but these won't help me much when i want to try on my own ;(

Sorry for double post. Might someone can upload a working set of default *.xml files for me so i can look if these work for me? would be damn much apriciated!

Thanks.

One last attempt: try opening the default folder's file directly, immediately after patching. If you're able to open it, File > Save As to a new folder.

Landiin 12-31-2005 01:37 AM

Can you open up the eq2ui.xml in UI/defualt?
