launch pad crashing after install?
 

Hey guys, just tried installing a new UI, and when I put in my password to launch the game I get "LaunchPad.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I was able to play the game before the install of UI. Any help is greatly appriciated. Thanks

I have the same exact problem. I am not impressed, however, I will investigate the problem further. It makes me wonder if .NET 2.0 has anything to do with it or not... anybody else having this problem? I'm sure you are! ;)

Soes... you mentioned you don't have problems... anymore? So, were you having this problem on the one that doesn't have problems anymore?

Ok, cancel that. I just tried loading up the game on my main computer, the game patched and now I'm getting the same error about LaunchPad.exe ....This has to be something new with whatever files were updated reciently because I've been playing all day.

No, I've been having some problems getting custom UI's to load up...mainly I was putting my eq2.ini file in my EQ2/UI instead of in my main EQ2 folder. This is something totally new to me. Now both computers are having the same problem and I'm willing to bet anyone who tries to load up the game from their desktop from now until its fixed will have the same problems as we're having.

Probably an error on SOE's side. Can use normal everquest2.exe in your EQ2 directory as a temporary work around.

Drumstix, you are a pretty smart chap ;-) Thanks a bunch, I didnt know you could use everquest2.exe to just totally bypass all the login. I'll try to download the UI I was working on when I started and see if it works ::crosses fingers:: Ty again!

Somehow I doubt that, but it could be. I had been playing all this morning/afternoon and the moment I installed the Interface update it began this... although I won't rule out the possibility of SOE updating their software and thus causing a coincidence. But it brings up a goodpoint... maybe the guys at EQ2 Interface should bypass the LaunchPad.exe application -- can't be needed... can it?

Work around
 

I was able to alt-tab just before the error pops and it let me in. Seems as though after you do this once, it works fine.

alt-tab to the message box that pops up right after you enter your password. I had to try this a couple of times on my girlfriends PC before it would take, so just keep trying.
