The results are not surprising at all. AMD has lead the way in performance as it pertains to the PC gaming enthusiast for years now. One would be daft to bother with Intel in this application unless cost is an issue and the price-to-performance ratio is really great. Now, what I'd really like to see is a review that puts AMD's FX-57 chip up against their Dual Core X2 4800+. I have a feeling which might win, and the dual core chip is still cheaper than the FX-57 by a good bit...a difference that could be the biggest deciding factor in which of those two chips gives the most bang for their buck. |
Cool.
AMD for the win :) |
In the past I have always built AMD systems but for my own system this time round (about 8month back) I decided to have a change and build an Intel based one ....... Bad move! :( Damn thing takes more cooling, so it seems and dont perform as well as expected... Its still fast but..... yah know lol .... And yeh I do use AS5 and and uber fans an sheet lol... imo AS5 is not what its made out to be likes..

pretty sure toms hardware did such a test. (the fx 57 vs the dual core 4800). The fx 57 won in gaming the 4800 in tasking.
I use a dual core, and I find in a lot of games, in order to overcome issues, I have to use only one core. So it hurts the performance of the dual core chip. |
Intel was good in gaming for only one thing: running 2 accounts from the same box.
And that's only if you had a HyperThreading P4. And before the AMD X2 came out. :p |
