Glowing trail gone (again)

I love this map patch, it's a great helper.. but I have one problem.
Whenever I close a window the trail to whatever I'm going to vanishes. So, my choises are to have windows covering my screen making it hard to see where I am going or travel without the aid of the trail.
After patch 16 or 17 (not sure) it started to work for a while again but then there was some update from EQ2map to the hud or something (non mapfile anyway) and again the trail prblem ocured.
Guess what I'm saing is I want to both eat my cake and have it, both trail and map patch, anyone know a solution?

I've had some luck keeping the trails going by closing the map with my "m" key rather than using the close box. Seems to work for me.

Thanks, using the hotkey instead of the GUI seems to work.

It's true, using the "M-Button" lets the tail remain.

But: It makes me stupid that the glowing tail disappears everytime I touch the map.

Is there another solution for this problem?

I know I have had the trail disappear on me after closing the map window many of times. However, it appears to come back on its own after a few seconds while I'm moving (sometimes I have to actually stop and look around for it....it usually pops up somewhere within the front 180*, since I find myself running in the direction it pointed before it vanishes farther than I should have before it turned to a different heading).

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it seems to be more of a SOE end issue than something we can control.

Does it do it with the default map? I am not for sure but I think it does. I'll check tongiht when I get home. I am almost sure this isn't an eq2map issue and its a SOE issue.

i'm having the same problem will try the 'm' button instead of closeing it with the 'x' when i next log on
