New computer, mods not working.

Hey guys. I just got a new comp and wanted to install a fresh set of mods. I've already done 2 comps w/ new mods and never had any problems. But this time I cannot get even 1 mod to work. So, I went to the sticky, and read the faq, and browsed the site here, but nothing seems to be working. I'd greatly appriciate some help.

Thanks,

Can you give us more details? What exactly isn't working? Also, what steps did you take to install the mods?

Since you said you've done them before, I'm confused as to why they aren't working either. Make sure that you have the correct mod for your eq2.ini file, as that could be an issue, especially if you used the autoupdater before, and not now.

Ok, exact steps....

First, created folder "Custom" under EQ2\UI\*

Created subfolder "Images"

Created eq2.ini file

Downloaded the mods I wished to have.

Placed all .xml files in main Custom folder, and .dds files in images.

Started up EQ2, still had default UI running.

Also, downloaded the EQ2 Maps program on that comp. It is working on my 2nd comp but again, I tried to start up the prog and got an error message that it couldnt initialize. I downloaded EQ2 Maps last.

Can you tell me what mods you downloaded? For the most part, you shouldn't have to create and move the images around manually. Most mods will come with them all set up.

However, that doesn't mean all. Here's what I would do...

1) Delete all UI folders save for the default
2) Download the mods you want
3) Create custom UI folder
4) Copy ALL files and their structure exactly the way it is in the folder to your custom folder.
5) Create eq2.ini (unless the mod comes with it) and make sure it is saved correctly. Your icon should become a white page with an orange gear on it if you saved it correctly. If it's still a white icon for text, it's not saved correctly.
6) Make sure your UI names match and that the eq2.ini file has the correct format.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot tomorrow when I wake up. I hope it works.
