Stuck on making a new text file (help)
 

While following the instructions on how to make my new custom UI (70% hotbars) I got to the part where it told me to make a new text file in my eq whatever assuming I knew what it wanted me to do... which I didn't...

So I went to the main eq2 listed an tried to make a new text document (there was no option to make a new text file) I inserted those things the FAQ told me to and went to save as eq2.ini... but then my pc popped up with a: Another document is saved as eq2.ini do you want to replace it...

Since the faq mentioned nothing about this I did not save it and closed out the document... any CLEAR intructions would be greatly appreciated.

just open the eq2.ini file that is there already and change it to whatever you were trying to change it to.

Yeah well i found it and did everything it told me to do and well it isn't working... These things should run themselves for those of us who are not techno gurus... I mean how can they expect that every single person will know how to do this crap... I barely have enough room for 2 hotbars and are about to need 3... but I haven't the room because SOE and their stupid ass huge hotbars.

Surely you dont expect to run before you can even walk?
The hotbars just happen to be quite complex in alignment etc etc to get right even for sombody that knows this **** quite well...

If all you want to achive is 70% hotbars my friend then just go to the donwloads section and grab one and follow instructions lol

If you want to learn how to mod UI pieces then start with somthing like the player window.... Its all trial and error and there is more than enough advice / help here to get you started if that is the case "seek and thy shalt find" aka use the "search" button ;)

Thing is I downloaded the 70% hotbard thing and well it didn't work... followed the vague instructions and everything. I was saying that the premade ones should work like the EQmap... all I have to do is download it. But no I have to follow instructions that make no sense unless I know exactly what to do...

Welcome to a world of computer technology. Your playing a computer game, sometimes it can help to know a little about comptuers, and how they work. Especially if your going to be customizing your game...

Now... people are trying to help, and there's tons of help already around the forums and on the website, if it's too hard, maybe it's not for you. But, you really should make claims of it not working just because it doesn't work for "you". Now I'm sure if you read through the installation instructions slowly, and carefully you will be able to install the mod and get it down.

Asking more specific questions on things you don't understand, or parts you may have done wrong, can help other people to help "you".

Then maybe MMO's aren't for you I hear XBOX 360 is coming out soon maybe you should check it out :)
