Overwriting eq2.ini
i feel really dumb asking this because i'm sure it's simple but i've browsed the faq and the info on the new download and don't find it.
how do i stop the autoupdater from overwriting my eq2.ini everytime it starts up. i want to use my own custom ui with the eq2maps under it. i've done this for months but now when i launch the first thing it does is overwrite the .ini to me ui/eq2maps. i got around this by making the file read only and clicking trhough the first file access error that pops up but that's clearly a hack. there must be a way to do this. |
I don't quite understand what you mean.
Do you have the folder in, for example: /EverQuest II/eq2maps/ or /EverQuest II/ui/eq2maps/ ? Because the 2nd one makes sense, and should work fine like that. |
what i mean is i have my ui set up like the following
everquest\ui\laffs\eq2maps so i use the laffs ui and have the maps as a subfolder of it. my eq2.ini looks like the following. cl_ui_skinname LAFFSV8 cl_ui_subdir UI/ cl_letter_box_amount 0.110000 letterbox_frame_visible false everytime i start up the autoupdate, it overwrites eq2.ini and replaces it with something like this: cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAPS i want to autoupdate the maps within my laffs ui, not overwrite the ini file each time. i've been able to hack this by making the file read only. this causes and initial error that you can skip past and then get it to update. i'm imaging there is still a way to do auto map updating with a custom ui. |
It should be
everquest\ui\LAFFSV8\eq2maps not everquest\ui\laffs\eq2maps thats the only thing I can see is wrong mate. |
You can leave the directory, but you need to change your INI to this:
cl_ui_skinname laffs It's got to match the directory name ;) |
