Changes on test (LU 16 beta)
Didn't see a thread yet, so figured I'd start one.
1) Not a big fan of the Barbarian SOGA models, and the DE's look a LOT like night elves from WoW.... but that's not the purpose of the thread, hehe. 2) Didn't see any problems with the quick run around I did during halftime of the football game on Sunday. Checking the logfiles, it's looking for some UI files that are missing from my Default folder in both the TestServer folder and the normal UI folder. Of course, it's then followed by a long list of "...outside container" spam. Most of my UI customization is to the texture graphics though, with the exception of the target, group, and player windows. 3) Data from the ui.log in the TestServer folder includes (not copy/pasted, thats on a 2nd computer): Code:

I play on test server as my normal server.
Theres been a lot added and changed to the UI over the last couple of patches actually. The main things added is a new tab in the persona window that has checkboxes for most of the common toggles. The addition of effects on your target window, some more work on making the compass resize properly :p , new button on house window for collecting individual items, CAs now highlight red when out of range and blue when out of power (This is pretty sweet btw), nd a bunch of misc stuff. Heres the relevant parts from our latest patches: *** Commands, Controls, and User Interface *** - The housing window (displayed by clicking your door while inside your house) now has a button for picking up a single item. Clicking this button brings up a window showing all items that you own which are currently placed within your house. You can then select the item that you would like to move to your inventory. Alternately, you can type the /pickup command which will also bring up the list of housing items you own. - The target and implied target windows will now automatically resize to accomodate target information. If no spell effects are present on the target, these windows will be the size they used to be. *** UI Files Modified *** eq2ui_mainhud_impliedtarget.xml eq2ui_mainhud_target.xml eq2ui_playerhousing.xml *** Commands, Controls, and User Interface *** - UI windows have received a facelift: They are now more streamlined. - Spell icons will now highlight red if the target is out of range or too close. - The target window will now show spells active on your target. - The death window now shows distances to respawn locations and sorts them by nearest to furthest. Locations in a different zone will not have a distance associated with them. - Mouse cursor changes for actions (loot, hail, banking, merchant, etc.) will now happen at a further distance, but will be greyed out when out of range. - Chat window text is now color-coded based on the type of chat you are using. - Waypoints and Find NPC requests will now place a marker on your map in addition to the light trail if there is a map for your current zone. - Clicking on the pet window will now target your pet. - Shift + Page Up/Page Down will force mouseover opacity on the chat window (thanks, Mortac). - The Mender "Repair All" button again has a total cost tooltip. - You can now mouse over icons and text within the mender and merchant windows to see item tooltips. - When countering a tradeskill event, the reaction art icon will become green or red whether you successfully countered the event or failed, respectively. - There is now an Options tab in the Persona window that allows you perform the following functions at the click of a button: * Character Flags: Anonymous, Roleplaying, Away From Keyboard, Looking For Group, Looking For Work * Graphics: Hide My Hood or Helmet, Hide My Illusion Form * Privacy: Decline Invitations to Duel, Decline Invitations to Trade, Decline Invitations to Join Groups, Decline Invitations to Join Raids, Decline Invitations to Join Guilds. - The compass will again point in the right direction when resized. - Your recipe book can again be sorted. - You will now see the warning about your level being too low if you invite a high enough level player into your group from a different zone. - Notification of heals in Combat/Spell chat will now give the spell that caused the heal. *** UI Files Modified *** eq2ui_mainhud_target.xml eq2ui_mainhud_impliedtarget.xml eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml eq2ui_journals_quest.xml eq2ui_tradeskills.xml eq2ui_mainhud_experience.xml eq2ui_mainhud_inspectplayer.xml eq2ui_mainhud_player.xml eq2ui_mainhud_compass.xml eq2ui_gamedata.xml eq2ui_mainhud_persona.xml UI\default\eq2ui_hud_choice.xml UI\default\eq2ui_journals_active.xml UI\default\eq2ui_mainhud_casting.xml UI\default\eq2ui_mainhud_inspectplayer.xml UI\default\eq2ui_mainhud_onscreenmessage.xml UI\default\eq2ui_mainhud_player.xml UI\default\eq2ui_mainhud_restarttrial.xml |

We got 16b last night with some more UI Changes. Some cosmetic (An actually really cool new background and slightly different widgest) a long with some major changes that you WILL need to update UIs for if you mod the inventory window.
Unfortunately these wasn't one nice section that said all the UI changes so I had to go through and pull the UI stuff from various spots. Here they are. - Shields will now correctly display their chance to block on the Persona window. The displayed value corresponds to the shield factor of the shield. NOTE: This was a display bug only. Block chances were being computed correctly in combat. - Food and drink must now be equipped in the Inventory window to be consumed. The food/drink slots are located where the Activatable slots used to be. - The Activatable slots are now called Charm slots. They have been moved to the upper corners of the Inventory window. - The Details tab of the Persona window now shows how many days your EverQuest II account has been active. *** Commands, Controls, and User Interface *** - Most UI windows are now locked by default. They can be unlocked in their context menu. - New level-based chat channels are now available to all players on each server regardless of their citizenship. You will automatically join the channel appropriate for your character's level range (according to whichever is higher of your adventure or crafting level). As your character levels up, you will automatically leave the old channel and move to a new one. - Screenshots taken in game are now saved to a folder named Screenshots within your EQ2 directory. - There is now an option to turn off spell effect icons for the target and/or implied target windows under Options-->User Interface-->Targeting Windows. - The /showhood command and Persona window option will now work correctly when zoning. - If you currently have the maximum number of characters created on your account, the create character button will now be disabled instead of hidden and it will have a tooltip explaining that you've reached your character limit. - The zone destination window should now size itself according to its contents. - Scrollbars should no longer overlap text or disappear when resizing certain windows. - The Guild Bank log should no longer put garbage characters after the names of former members. - When free look controls are set to Avatar Relative, characters swimming at the water surface in third-person view will now only dive underwater when moving the camera to a steep downward angle. - The LFG checkbox is now disabled while you are in a group. - Deleting a repeatable quest will no longer make it count as a completed in your quest journal. - Guild Status Points (GSP) are now simply referred to as Status Points (SP). *** UI Files Changed *** eq2ui_gamedata.xml eq2ui_inventory_inventory.xml eq2ui_mainhud_persona.xml eq2ui_mainhud_windowsettings.xml eq2ui_newcharscene.xml eq2ui_playerhousing.xml eq2ui_popup_zoneteleporter.xml - The EverQuest II Team |

Should be all in on yes. It is all part of 16 on test. 16b has some really cool things in it. I only posted the UI changes here but if you read the full patch notes on the official forums theres some sweet stuff.
Some nasty bugs too :p But hopefully we'll get them ironed out soon enough. |
