Updater stops after EQ2 Directory Confirmation

I have used the manual update version of EQ2MAP for a while and really love it.

I have a problem getting the auto-update version to work though.

After I install, when I run the auto-updater, I get a pop-up box titled "EQ2 Directory Confirmation" asking if the directory it lists is my EQ2 directory. It is listing the appropriate directory so I click yes. Then the box goes away and nothing else happens.

I am running XP Professional with all updates and have installed the .NET runtime as instructed in the installation instructions.

I don't get any errors, windows exceptions or otherwise...the updater just doesn't run.

I read (I believe thoroughly) the installation instructions, common issues, FAQ, the first couple pages of threads in this forum, and ran several searches attempting to find a solution within this forum but couldn't find where anyone else had noted the same issue.

*EDIT - checking windows processes running shows the auto-updater running and using 31,496k memory however it doesn't show up as a running application under the Applications tab*
Any idea what is wrong in my setup that could cause this?

sorry :( its a bug i tried to get rid of completely but couldnt quite, it has to do with .net being stupid on certain things.
have you tried ending the process in the task manager and starting it over again?

is there a eq2map_config.cfg in the updater folder (default is C:\Program Files\EQ2MAP Updater)?
if there is try opening it up and changing the part that has
Code:

    <OptionName>AutoUpdate</OptionName>
    <OptionValue>True</OptionValue>

to:
Code:

    <OptionName>AutoUpdate</OptionName>
    <OptionValue>False</OptionValue>

Aye, I tried ending and restarting the process....got the same result.

And, no there's no config file in my EQ2MAP Updater directory.

There are 2 DLLs, 2 images, the program executable, an uninstall executable, and a shortcut link to eq2interface.com.
