Can quest helper be a tab in a chat window?

I'm not sure if this is possible, but...

I'd love to have exactly two text windows on the bottom of my screen. One would be my "Main Chat", and the other would be "Secondary Chat/Quest Helper".

If I'm in combat (i.e. group XP, raid, etc) then I'd like the second window to show combat info (standard chat tabs showing my hits, others hits, etc). But if I'm working on a quest, I'd like the second window to be the quest helper. I never really need to see both at the same time.

Is there any way to embed the quest helper as a tab on a chat window like this?

Thanks!

It might be possible. Only thing is, it wouldn't be a "true tab," and every chat window will have it. If you do one mod to one window, it will do it to every window that that window controls (make sense?) Example: You make the hotbars 200% scale instead of 100%. Every hotbar you have will be 200%, not just one you want. This being said, you wouldn't exactly be able to have a "tab", but you could have a button that says "I wanna view my quest info" and that comes up in the space provided instead of the chat window.

That's what I can think of. Not genius enough to figure out how to do it, but I'm sure someone can tell me if this is even possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if the quest helper info is only supplied to that window, which would make this impossible.

Actually a quick glance and it looks doable. Since i'm sitting here stuck in the house with Huricane Wilma blow around me i'll play around with it a bit :p

Ok I basiclly have this working, though not as a tab. What I did was change the HELP button that almost no one uses to toggle the quest helper on and off. When you toggle it on the quest helper appears in the area where your chat would normally be, underneath the tabs. It works perfect, but I need to do some cleaning up on it, fix some packing issues, and what not.

Ok I got this working pretty sweet now. This was an awesome idea to do! The screenshot above was just to show the concept working, but I made it much more graphically appealing. The basic operation is as stated previously. Use the help button to toggle the quest helper on/off and when toggled on it displays where chat normally would be. Graphically i've c leaned it all up and made it integrate real well.

So give this a try and let me know how it works for you. Might be a bug or two as I only did quick tests but it seems fine.

Thanks Agathorn! I'm on my way to a raid now, but I downloaded the file and I'll either try it tonight after the raid, or tomorrow for sure!

I appreciate your effort. :)

OK, I loaded this up and it works great! Got my UI all set up, and I'm a happy camper. Thank you so much for your help! :)

I did encounter one (very minor) issue. I always set up my chat windows with Normal Opacity on the Backdrop set in the middle (so I can partially see through). Then I can hover my mouse over the window if I need the backdrop to turn dark. But when the quest helper is up, it seems to ignore the window setting for opacity. It's not that big of a deal, but is there any way I can adjust the opacity to be the same as when it's a chat window?

Anyway, it's working great! Thanks again! :)

Strange. I'll see if I can take a look at that when I get a chance for you.
