A simple request
 

Hello there, I know I'm not the only one bothered by some of the changes to the UI made in LU15. Truth be told most of these changes aren't that bad, but the new window borders are quite annoying since they cause window space to be used inefficiently and the end result is more space taken up by a ui that used to fit together so nicely (the new space left in the concentration window for debuff icons is also uneccessary imo).

My request is simple, if anyone has access to a relatively recent copy of the default UI files as of anytime before LU15 (ie anytime in October up to the 18th) maybe on a 2nd or 3rd PC or something, it would be much appreciated if you could zip them up and upload them somewhere so that those of us who would like to switch back to the old borders can do so. If you're concerned about bandwidth then you can PM me an URL and I will handle the hosting part if neccessary, anything that gets these files available would be greatly appreciated.

I have a custom raid window which still loads with the old thin gold border style window so I'm assuming it is still no problem to use windows with that style... I hope. I suppose it's also possible that SOE will choose to make the older style windows available but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Another option would be the long way, if anyone knows how to mod these windows back to the old style (specifically borders) and feels like it, but since EQ2 XML eludes me, I really can't speak for that myself.

You might wanna check out Fetish Classic. Looks very much like the original UI but uses an entirely seperate set of styles and files to avoid just this sort of problem. SOE changes the default styles and art, any mods using that art or styles gets hosed. LU15 had almost zero impact on the Fetish sets.

Thanks for the suggestion, I took a look at Fetich Classic but the windows I really wanted back to normal are the Group, Concentration/Self HP/Power, and Implied target windows and they are quite "modded" in that one so I'm afraid I won't be able to get much out of that.

I am considering doing it myself but EQ2 xml seems quite different from the minor tweaks I made in EQ1 so I'm not getting my hopes up.

If anyone can provide pre LU15 versions of the Group, Self HP/Mana, Target, Implied Target, Quest Helper, and Buff/Mainted spells window it would be much appreciated.
