Error Updating Files
I recieved this error after installing the program and trying to update the files. I tried turning off my firewall and got the same error. Anyone have any ideas?

Working
I got it working, I had to add some rules to my firewall. Even when it was turned off it was still blocking it. I did notice however that if it does not update the files correctly and I close the program, it leaves the process running and I cannot restart the program. Just an fyi.

what firewall do you have and what rules did you have to add to get it working properly? that way when someone else has the problem the solution will be known.

I got this error as well. I use Norton Internet Security. I have also noticed even when allowing EQ in my fireall it wont allow it unless i disable the firewall. this just started happening about 2 weeks ago. Even when i disable my firewall however the map updater still does not function. Any idea what rules you must add to the firewall to get this to function again? version 1.0 works fine btw i only have this problem with 1.06 |
it probaly thinks the new version is trying to trick it or something (since it changed from when you added it) try removing the entry for the updater in your firewall and then adding it back.

i tried to delete the firewall entry and then run the program. it asked me if i wanted to permit this program on all ports and i said yes but it still doesnt work

I also had this same issue with my EQ2Maps and Norton internet security 2005. I did find a fix, though, and I hope it works for you.
Open Norton internet security. Select the Personal Firewall, then click "Configure" on the right hand side of the screen. Click the Programs tab and then click add. Find the EQ2Maps executable file and choose "permit all". Click ok, exit out, and retry your EQ2Maps. It should work ;) Good luck! |
