invis text

one character i have is experiencing a very annoying issue.
I can not see any channel text, e.g. /say, /gsay, /gu etc.
It is perfectly visible whilst typing but vanishes after i hit enter.
others in the channel see the text fine but i can not.

I tried removing my character settings file as I have had strange issues before but unfortunately this didnt help this time. Anyone have any ideas?

I surprised the UI settings file didn't fix it, but the only other thing I can suggest would be to go into your Options under Chat and manually set the text to a different color. Good luck! :)

I have had this problem beofre I ever evne used the UI and heard it with others as well. I think you will find that moving the same chats to another Window you can suddenly see it again. I suspect its simply a weird EQ bug.

thanks for the suggestions guys.
I tried messing with the colours but no luck.
I also tried moving the text about into differant windows and creating new chat windows but these all suffer the same issue.
I then tried removing and recreating the settings file again and even restoring an old backup that i know worked - still no luck.
I guess I either live with it or try the lottery that is soe support.

Make sure the Chat Options filter check box for character chat and all of those nested under it are checked for that window.

Double check the Game Options )> Chat Colors )> Echo color for chat.

Try replacing the settings file with a current copy from another toon that works properly. Deleted settings and old settings files often get sent the same bugs from the server.

thanks Zonx, i tried all that still no luck.
The strange thing is i can read everyone elses channel text fine not mine... hmmm just had a thought i wonder if somehow i am ignoring myself, i will have to check that when i get back to my machine.
I know i havent set that but it would fit the problem...

yep that was it - somehow i was on my own ignore list - now i feel stupid. :nana:

ROFL... digital equivelant of a Freudian Slip perhaps? :D

Yep funny and embarassing :)
still when you consider the following I had no reason to suspect this.
1. I have no-one listed on ignore and dont use the feature.
2. The problem started after I was kicked from a group zoning (not by the group either as i was group leader).
3. Several other text bugs were introduced at that time that i had to restart to remove.
4. I know I didnt add this as I was fine before zoning and not after...

Still it all works now so I will just accept the embarrasment and be happy I can hear myself again.
